Well, I feel like I need to praise Lauren for a little bit here. She is such a big girl and a great helper these days. I have a hard time because I feel like I'm constantly getting after her for things. But in spite of me being a grouchy mom she really does some quite wonderful things! The other day I went to get my hair cut. I really didn't want to take Lauren along with me but she is soo clingy lately there was no way I was leaving her behind! I'm so thankful she was with me because she was my little babysitter the whole time for Kristen. Kristen would fuss and she'd instantly rock her in her carseat and give her her binky. I didn't even have to ask her for these things. It was just automatic for her! Also, we've always been really good about saying prayers at dinner, but lately it has been a bit more unorganized (Melissa, don't laugh!) Ok...so it's always unorganized. But anyway, We will dish up, sit down and just start eating..then it never fails, Lauren chimes in "We forgot to say a prayer!!" Cory and I are always amazed! She always is so curious and has so many questions that it gets irritating but I have to remember that I am her own "book of knowledge" at this point. I feel very proud to be her mother and to be the one who gets to teach her about the world and our Heavenly Father's plan. Hopefully I won't let her down. I feel so blessed. I love my big baby girl.
I love this Fall and Halloween! Lauren, Kristen, and I went with some friends to "The Great Pumpkin Event" at Michael's craft store last week. We got to decorate the craft pumpkins for 5$ each. It was so much fun and I have a new love...Martha Stewart Glitter!!! I have a weakness for all things glittery and this is fun stuff! Mine is the all green one.
Also, I made a little Halloween banner. This was fun. I love having little projects...ya know, anything that will keep me from housework! Hopefully if you zoom in you can see the details.
Cory and his 2nd year Podiatry class had a little intramural softball team they played in for the last few weeks. It has been great! I've gotten to know a few of the other wives and they have little girls around Lauren's age so she was always entertained. We were apparently good luck for our husbands because they won the tournament!!! Congrats you guys!!
Ok...So I died my hair the other night..I actually had Melissa do it since I have way too much hair to tackle myself (just ask her!) It turned out a bit darker than expected. I was dealing ok with it for the first few minutes but then Cory walked in and I broke down into tears! It's practically black! So I feel like I'm wearing a wig now. I think I'll have a few lighter brown tones put in to break it up a bit and maybe help me not have such bad roots when it grows! AHHHHH! Can you see the enthusiasm in my face??
Well, just like Lauren did Kristen is growing like a weed. 11 lbs 14 oz and 23"tall. That is 75% for weight and 90% for height. Would anyone expect anything less from Cory and I?? Can you believe Lauren was a whole pound more at this point? The doctor said Kristen is "growing beautifully". She got 4 shots and cried harder than I have ever heard her cry. It seriously broke my heart. I couldn't hold her tight enough!
Okay, so I've been a bit obsessed with a few songs lately. They run through my head constantly. I thought I'd share my new loves. The first and most recent is "Apologize", 2 different versions and I love them both! The first is just by One Republic, the next is Timbaland and One Republic. This one has a nice beat. Amanda Frost blogged about it the other day, so I went and checked it out...love the songs and video! The next is 4 in the morning by Gwen Stefani..This one had to grow on me but I can't get enough of it. Lauren loves it too. Another is Brighter than Sunshine by Aqualung. It's featured on one of my all time favorite movies Alot like Love. There are many others but I figured I've ranted and raved for long enough!
Sunday night Kristen surprised me and slept for 11 hours straight! What a gal! She turned 2 months on Tuesday. I can't believe it. We sure do enjoy having her in our little family. We feel like an official family now with multiple kids! Monday was Cory and My 5th Anniversary! We celebrated by going out to a movie and Cory bought me these beautiful lillies! (notice the skeleton foot? Doubles as a great Halloween prop!) Heather and Mike came over with their two kids to watch our two kids! Heather thanks so much, especially since you were puking your brains out too! Then tonight we went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate Lauren finishing her "going to sleep in her own bed" chart. We had a great time! It was Kristens first time too so we had to get the family picture done of course! Over all it has been a great week!
I am a wife to a wonderful husband and a mom to 2 beautiful little girls. We moved to Miami in June 2010 where Cory started his Podiatry residency. We are so proud of our new doctor!! Now we are looking forward to the new adventures living in Florida will provide!
